The Green Monster.

We have a situation.

As you can see, the house is flanked by these two shrubs.  The one on the right isn’t terrible.  It needs a little trimming, but other than that, it marks the property line and looks pretty decent.  The one on the left, however, is another story.

The other property line is divided by a hedge that is overgrown.  Last summer, Kurtis and I launched the first attack against the hedge and trimmed a huge section of it away.  People, it used to touch the ground, the house, everything!  It was a mess.  Our next on the hedge is to continue to trim up and get that mess in order.  But that’s another day.

First things first.  For three years, I have been hating on this shrub/tree.  It’s awkward, ugly, and takes over the front yard.  And on Sunday, Kurtis and I decided it was time to cut it down.

Here we go!

My turn to do a little chainsaw action.  Note: Sunglasses work great as protection eyewear.

And then, there was just a stump.  We worked for about an hour on the stump alone.

It’s about halfway gone. But we want to get the whole thing out of there because we have big plans for the front yard. Like beautiful flowering tree big plans. But more on that later.

Since our streets are getting torn up this spring, my goal is to see if I can use my recently acquired lawyering skills to persuade the workers to use their big machines to pull the rest of the stump out.  Wish me luck!
